The atheist philosopher Bertrand Russell once said, “It is evident as a matter of logic that, since [the world religions] disagree, not more than one of them can be true.” He is absolutely right. The different religions and spiritual teachings in our world differ so dramatically on some of the most basic issues that they are simply not compatible with one another. Anyone who tells you otherwise must not really have understood the claims of any of them! In fact, as apologist Michael Ramsden puts it, a human being who says that “different religions are just different paths up the same mountain” is actually putting themselves in God’s position. Only someone who is above the mountain is able to tell you if the paths all meet at the top.

So what does Christianity/the Bible claim? That God Himself, the One ‘above the mountain’, came down to meet us in the Person and Work of Jesus Christ. Jesus did not say He was one path, but the Path. In John 14:6 He said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” And Acts 4:12 says, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Some think it is arrogant to say these things, but I think it is loving. The mighty God who created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them wants a relationship with you and me. He is so loving that He revealed His Word to human beings, and ultimately sent His Son into the world to give His life for our sins. Eyewitness accounts tell us that this same Jesus Christ who died also rose again, something that no other religious leader has done. All this was done out of love for us, so that we need not be separated from God for eternity, but can clearly know the way of salvation.

So read the Bible, carefully consider the deeds and claims of Christ and compare them with other religions, and I think you will know which one is true.
