Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals

Baptism & Thanksgiving Services

The Anglican Church baptises the children of Christian parents, as a sign of God’s love for the child and the parents’ commitment to bringing him or her up in the Christian faith. When they are old enough to do so, children need to make their own decision as to whether or not they will trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

We also baptise adults or children who have made their own decision of faith.

Thanksgiving Services are an alternative option for parents who do not wish to make all the baptismal promises and declarations of faith, but would still like a Christian service thanking God for the gift of their child, and praying for them as they grow up.

Weddings

Our Parish provides the perfect setting for couples who wish to have a Christian marriage service. Weddings can be held at All Saints’, Tumut; St Paul’s, Talbingo; Holy Advent, Tumorroma; or in our picturesque Riverside Chapel next to the church grounds. Our clergy are also able to conduct wedding services in other locations, pending the bishop’s approval.

We conduct marriage preparation meetings with every couple, to discuss the significance of marriage and to make arrangements for the service. Rev. David and his wife Rachel are also trained facilitators of Prepare-Enrich, a valuable aid in preparing for this lifetime commitment.

The Parish Catering Group can cater for a sit-down meal for up to 80 people in our Parish Hall.

Funerals

Anglican funeral services are centred on God’s Word, which offers comfort and hope through faith in Jesus Christ. In your time of grief and sadness, our parish is here to offer loving pastoral support in whatever way you need it. If you would like us to conduct a funeral or memorial service for your loved one, please contact your funeral director first and they will be in touch with us.
